TREADED TIRE PROCEDURES & TECH
TREADED TIRE PROCEDURES & TECH
Each driver is allowed ONE set of tires for their class!
After 3 races the driver is eligible (not required) to purchase a 2nd set of (3) tires (RR/RF/LR).
*NOTE- If a driver is racing flat kart and champ they have the option to purchase one additional set (one set for flat kart & one set for champ). Tires will be stamped/branded accordingly! Cannot interchange tires from flat kart to champ kart!
Driver must have tires bolted to the kart when coming to pre-tech. Those 4 tires will be stamped and/or branded and will be the ONLY 4 tires to be ran throughout the day on that kart!
After hitting the track for practice/qualifying the tires can NOT be washed. If you come to the grid for heats or mains with clean tires you WILL NOT race and will be sent back to your trailer.
Tire temps will be checked at the grid. NO heating/cooling tires!
❌ Absolutely NO altering tires in any way! ❌
No prepping, cutting ,sanding, heating/cooling, re- grooving , siping etc.
All tires will have an internal stamp, if no internal stamp is present this will result in a DQ and confiscation of tires!
Tech official will be checking tires with a pyrometer, durometer, depth gage and any other methods deemed necessary to use at any time! All comparison readings will be based off our sample tires.
Tech official reserves the right to check any tire at any time using any method deemed necessary. Tires are subject to being dismounted, cut in half, weighed or sample taken from tire. If we cut your tire and it’s legal WRP will give you a new tire.
Depth check 9.00 A40 treaded tire-
9.00 A40 treaded tires are produced with a total of 35 “bullet” depth check holes. This consist of 5 rows of 7 depth holes going all the way across the tires surface contact points. Once tire wears and more than 2 of the 7 depth holes are no longer visible on any row the tire is NO LONGER LEGAL for competition! This means on any row of 7 tech official must be able to verify that a minimum of 5 depth holes are present‼️
Depth check 6.00 A40 treaded tire-
6.00- Tire “tread block” to tire groove check is a minimum of .040! This number will be averaged across the tire contact surface. Once tire average depth is below .040 it is NO LONGER LEAGAL for competition!
If a tire is found altered in ANY way the entire set will be confiscated and team issued a $1000 fine!
2nd offense is $2000 fine and track suspension for 1 year!
